Description:

summoned because of the restoration of the monarchy under King Charles II. It was called to determine the form of government that would follow the end of the Commonwealth period, which had been marked by the rule of Oliver Cromwell and his son Richard

The Convention Parliament also passed several important acts, including the Act of Indemnity and Oblivion, which granted amnesty to many who had supported the Commonwealth, and the Triennial Act, which required that Parliament be called at least once every three years
