Description:

The Penruddock uprising was a failed Royalist rebellion that took place in England in March 1655, during the 17th century. It was named after its leader, John Penruddock, who was a member of the gentry and a former Royalist officer in the English Civil War.

The uprising was part of a larger Royalist conspiracy to overthrow the government of Oliver Cromwell However, the rebellion was quickly suppressed by Cromwell's all members where arrested and charged with high treason

with was an example of just one of the many royalist uprising between 1649 - 1660 but all were unsuccessful
