feb 7, 1794 - Whiskey Rebellion

Description:

Hamilton taxes luxury items including whiskey. This pisses off Western PA who viewed it as currency not a luxury item. 500 rebels declared independence and refused to pay the tax. A 13,000 person militia is sent- way over the top (it was 26 to 1). It was a warning to future rebellions.
