And it seems that the fight between Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce and actor Johnny Depp won't be resolved anytime soon.

Speaking to ABC's Leigh Sales after declaring victory in his New South Wales seat of New England in the 2016 Federal Election, Mr Joyce was asked: 'Any parting words for Johnny Depp?'

He replied with a sly smile: 'Bye bye Johnny', as he waved slowly at the camera.

The politician then thanked the Hollywood star 'for the advertising.'

It was Mr Joyce who led the fight to have Johnny and his wife Amber Heard prosecuted, after the couple brought their dogs Pistol and Boo into Australia earlier this year.
