may 17, 1954 - Brown vs Board of Education
Description:
On May 17, 1954, The Brown Vs. The Board of Education delivered the unanimous decision by proving unconstitutional school segregation in Topeka, Kansas. The historic decision ended the ‘separate but equal” policy implemented in the Plessy Vs. Ferguson case. The case brought significant resistance because many segregationist members felt the decision went against the traditional and established teaching methods. In addition, the segregationist members believed that the judges overstepped the constitutional power to create new laws.
