After starting to get raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, my mother took the pivotal decision to follow my father to the U.S. with the promise of starting a new promising life in the outskirts of Los Angeles. As a 7-year-old girl with my 36- year old mother, we crossed the border and never turned back to our lives back in Mexico. The journey to the United States was incredibly difficult with the possibility of risking our lives on the way towards meeting not only my father but a promise of a better future for my family and I.
