A space created by women where they hoped it would be used to address problems ignored by what they viewed as a male-dominated movement. It served as a center for social services and youth intervention. Somewhere for the struggling Latinx community of Chicago to resort to and feel empowered by.
It initially struggled gathering funds to remain open as it was largely run by women and therefore it was received negatively and as contradicting to culturally assigned gender roles.
