jul 5, 1763 - New Economic Measures

Description:

The war cost Parliament a lot of $$$. They passed and enforced more tax acts as a result.

Examples: Townshend Act, Tea Act, Sugar Act, Stamp Act, etc.

Before this, Britain used salutary neglect (staying out of Colonies' affairs for the most part). However, they started strictly enforcing Acts which angered colonists and made them think about taxation w/out representation.

Britain claimed the colonies had virtual representation (members of parliament represented all classes of citizens no matter location).
