The Kent State shooting was a tragic event for the United States. The protest took place at Kent State University. Demonstrators were mainly students. Concerned that the protests could escalate into riots, the Ohio National Guard was called. The National Guard decided to open fire on a group of protesters, killing four students and injuring nine. All these students were unarmed. This attracted worldwide attention. There has been outrage about the Vietnam War before, but the recent killing of a protester has sparked even more outrage. The need to end war, to stop needless violence has reached an all-time high.
