jun 30, 1934 - Night of the Long Knives/ Rohm Affair
Description:
Under pressure from his trusted advisors Hitler tells the SS to kill the commanders and leaders of the SA including one of his trusted advisors Ernst Rohm. This came as a surprise to the SA as they believed they would gain power with Hitler. The SS inferred that this meant Hitler preferred them to the SA so they became loyal to him. These killings were declared legal because of the false accusation that the commanders and Rohm were planning to overthrow the government.
