Thomas Harrison was a soldier, Puritan, and politician who played a prominent role in the English Civil War in 1646 and late would be important for the Commonwealth period.

He was a signatory of the death warrant for King Charles I and played a key role in his trial and execution in 1649.

He fought for the Parliamentarians, rose to the rank he was a vocal advocate for the establishment of a republic in 1650.
