apr 17, 1961 - Bay Of Pigs
Description:
On April 16, 1961, a group of some 1,500 Cuban exiles trained and financed by CIA operatives in secret to invade and destabilize Cuba from the sea in the Bay of Pigs.
The mission was to overthrow Fidel Castro and his revolution so the U.S. didn't have to worry about its communist government. Though afterward, the invasion was completely unsuccessful, which then led to Cuba teaming up with the Soviet Union. Because of the invasion, the U.S. and Cuba have been a major factor in their relationship.
