Description:

Dred Scott, a slave that lived in a free state for a couple of years< went to the Supreme Court saying that he was a slave in a free state and she be given his freedom. The court responded with slaves cannot sue and since they are property, they can be taken anywhere like property and not be taken away. This led to a lot of tension which further divided the country.
