jan 1, 1712 - 1712, Thomas Newcomen invents the steam engine
Description:
In the year 1712, Thomas Newcomen invented the first improvement in power sources, the Steam Engine. It was made for pumping water into mines. Water would trickle down into mines and it had to be pumped out in order for miners to go down so Newcomen invented the Steam Engine to add more power to water pumps. It heated the water with coal and when the water was heated it turned into steam which removed the water.
