Description:
The Espionage Act of 1918 was an act made during World War 1 when America had just declared war on Germany. President Wilson was concerned that German immigrants living in the U.S. even as citizens would be more loyal to Germany. The Espionage Act of 1918 made it a federal offense to use "disloyal, profane, scurrilous, or abusive language" towards the Consitution, the government, American uniform, or flag.
