1. German forces invaded Poland, Nazis did this by using blitzkrieg. And two days later, Britain and France declared war on Germany and WW2 officially began.

2. 1941 - In Japan the people were told that their emperor was a deity and they were the master race. The country glorified the individuals who committed suicide for their country. Americans were viewed as too individualistic and that they must be destroyed. In addition towards the end of the war Japanese citizens were asked to defend the homefront when the soldiers could not.
