oct 1, 1519 - Montezuma invites the Spanish to Tenochtitlan
Description:
After the Spanish befriended the Tlaxcalans, Montezuma sent ambassadors with gifts to invite the Spaniards to the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan.
He had likely been spying on the Spanish for a while now, and the Tlaxcalans were long-term enemies of the Aztecs. In addition to all the other tribes the Spanish had been befriending (none of whom liked that Aztecs), he decided it would be a good idea to start positive relations with them.
