Description:

In 1501 in Venice, Ottaviano Petrucci produced the first collection of polyphonic music printed entirely from movable type, the "Harmonice musices odhecatonA (One hundred songs of harmonic music - it actually contained only ninety-six). Petrucci used a triple-impression process in which each sheet went through the press three times: once to print the staff lines, another to print the words, and a third to print the notes anf the florid initials.
