aug 15, 1519 - Panama City established
Description:
Panama was the closest point on the Pacific coast to Nobre de Dios (a port on the Caribbean coast), making it the easiest place for communications and trade with Spain. Additionally, the land around Panama was fertile and the sea had plenty of fish. They quickly set up a city in Panama, and built the Camino Real (a trade and communications route between Nombre de Dios and Panama city).
