apr 5, 1764 - Sugar Act

Description:

The Parliament passed a modified version of the sugar and Molasses Act (1733), which was about to expire. This law attempted to curb the smuggling of sugar and molasses. The colonists weren't happy about this because they didn't see why they had to pay taxes on something made in the Western hemisphere and it doesn't go through Britain first before them, where as the British saw it just as renewing what was already there.
