"Fee for services" A stamp had to be purchased and stuck on items that were bought and sold, as well as documents, deeds, etc. Unfair to Americans and refused "taxation without representation"
Only few officials were brave enough to force people to use the stamps as most English politicians sided with Americans
Repeald in 1766 after became a disaster
