When Patel was about 17 years old, he wed Jhaverba, a woman from the village of Gana. Sadly, not much is known about Jhaverba and their shared lives. Mani, a daughter, was born in 1904, and Dahya, a son, was born in 1905. Jhaverba passed away in 1909 at the age of just 29, leaving behind children who were only 5 and 3.When many years later, Maniben, Patel's daughter was questioned about her mother, she simply answered 'I have no idea'. Her mother was never mentioned by her father.
Sardar Patel (extreme right) is pictured with his brothers, mother Ladba, and other family members. Yet, Jhaverba, Patel's wife, is not represented by even a single image.
