jan 1, 1899 - Juvenile Court Act
Description:
Illinois enacted the Juvenile Court Act in 1899. The act created the first juvenile court, as well as allowed probation officers to investigate the cases. The main issue with the act is that it did not include the salaries for probation officers which was not changed until 1919. This Act established what juvenile courts would look like and was used by many other states.
