Walt died at the age of 65 on December 15th, 1966 due to lung cancer. He had a huge impact on the entertainment industry. Walt created Mickey Mouse, one of most iconic cartoon characters in history, and Disneyland and Disney World are also a part of his legacy, them being two of the most popular theme parks in the world. It was one of his dreams to create a place where people could forget about reality, and immerse themselves in a world of fantasy and imagination. His work continues to inspire millions of people around the world. There are now six Disney theme parks worldwide:
Anaheim, California Disneyland - opened in 1955.
Orlando, Florida, Walt Disney World - opened in 1971.
Tokyo, Japan Disneyland - opened in 1983.
Paris, France Disneyland - opened in 1992.
Hong Kong Disneyland - opened in 2005.
Shanghai, China Disneyland - opened in 2016.
