sep 2, 1939 - Voder (Vocoder)
Description:
The first vocoder was called the Voder and was shown off at the 1939 New York and San Francisco World Fairs and cause quite a large stir. A few years later the SIGSALY device was the first application of the vocoder technology which was used by governments, primarily the UK and USA during WW2 and was used to scramble phone and radio conversations. Dozens of SIGSALY terminal installations were set up all over the world.
