The Declaration of Independence was approved and signed by the Second Continental Congress meeting at the Pennsylvania, on July 4th 1776. The Declaration announced that the thirteen American colonies currently at war with the Kingdom of Great Britain would now regard themselves as thirteen independent states no longer under British rule, these states formed a new nation the United states of America. The Declaration was drafted by 5 appointed people, including John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert R. Livingston, and Roger Sherman.
