dec 22, 1929 - Anti-Young referendum
Description:
the Young Plan was disliked by German nationalists bc it was seen as the government admitting that it had to pay reperations,
there were anti-Young leaflets distributed about how Germans would have to "slave away into the third generation"
the Young Plan and the reps were also blamed for the high unemployment and the economic slump
so the Nationalist parties started a referendum calling for a reversal of the Young Plan
only 14% of voters backed it
so overall the majority of Germans had been won over by the achievements of Stresemann,
BUT
there was still a vocal anti-Weimar minority,
among them was the NSDAP and Hitler
who gained a lot of popularity from his campaign encouraging ppl to back the Anti-Young referendum
