sep 8, 1926 - Germany joins League
Description:
Initially after the war Germany was excluded from the League of Nations
Stresemann, as part of his policy of appeasing the west (Erfuellungspolitik) felt it necessary for Germany to be included on the international forum
However, Stresemann pushed for Germany to become a permanent Council member
(the Council was the highest decision making body of the League and it was meant to resolve disputes between members)
the League agreed,
this affirmed Germany's position as a Great Power and won it great prestige
Germany tried using its new League position to revise the Versailles Treaty,
most notably this concerned the possibility of an Anschluss w/ Austria to which no one in the League agreed to
