Description:

While Tara is working for her dad in the Junkyard, she does not have much of a future ahead of her. Her brother Tyler understands that she is different from all his other siblings, and deserves to have a shot at trying to get an education. When he tells her this, she starts studying to take the ACTs to get into BYU, and college in Utah. Against all odds, Tara manages to score high enough on this test to get into the college, and although her parents are against it, decides to go try it. If she had not made this pivotal decision, she would not have any of the achievements, friends, and mentors that she gains later in the book.
