Description:
Following the death of his father (Charles I), and his own exile to mainland Europe, Charles II was offered the role of king by the people of Scotland, on the condition that he remain true to the goals of their rebellion. Charles II agreed and was thus crowned king of Scotland on January 1, 1651.
