Controversial ad depicting David Kirby - a gay man who died of aids. Some felt this ad brought important light to the issue of aids while others felt like Benetton was profiting off a dying mans pain. This ad campaign started a lot of conversations around the lack of humanity AIDs patients were being treated with. It should be noted this photo was originally published in LIFE magazine and taken by Therese Frare, then used for a Bennetton ad by Oliviero Toscani, two years after the photo was originally published.
