Description:
Ministry of Popular Culture created to organise propaganda and culture
Propaganda in Italy was weird:
for a totalitarian state it was quite lenient:
it promoted Fascist art,
but it didn't punish non-Fascist art,
so next to statues of hot Roman-esque men and huge posters of Musso's face
there was also abstract art (e.g. Licini, Manzu)
in the countryside the main instrument of propaganda after the Concordat became the priests,
Dopolavoro also organised plays and shows in the countryside
Italian propaganda largely failed to convince Italians of two things:
- the alliance w/ Hitler
- anti-semitism
the moment Italy starts getting closer to Hitler
scepticism for the Musso regime increases,
that scepticism only continues as the war progresses not in Italy's favour
