jan 1, 1609 - The Compound Microscope

Description:

Galileo Galilei modified one of his telescopes in 1609 to create a microscope. Its eyepiece was a diverging lens, while its objective was a converging lens. The astronomer Cornelius Drebbel presented an early microscope around 1620 that consisted of two converging lenses.
