jan 1, 2003 - Human genome DNA sequence draft completed
Description:
Before the human genome project was completed the ‘International Human Genome Squencing Consortium officially announced the successful completion of the project before it had even been completed and while it was severely under budget. The goal of the project was to produce a sequence of the human genome. The original draft was completed in 2001 when then over the course of 2 years it was worked upon to make it to the finished sequence. The human genome project is one of the greatest scientific achievements in history. The project was a journey of biological discovery which was led by an international group of biology researchers all of which setting out to study all of the DNA in a set of organisms. It was first launched in 1990 and then finished in 2003 the projects main accomplishment being generating the first sequence of a human genome.
