feb 6, 1919 - Weimar Republic
Description:
The Weimar Republic used to be the German government. It got its name from the assembly which adopted the constitution in Weimar. The Head Chancellor of this organization was Heinrich Bruning. He was facing a parliamentary deadlock but had to resort to using the president's powers which were Article 48. This was to make the program have a big effect and be official. The Weimar Republic had some trouble with the post-war economy and also had some financial problems in 1919. They recovered from all of this in 1920. Once the Great Depression happened and affected most of the world, Hitler then used this to his advantage, which triggered both the collapse of the economy and politics. This began Hitler's rise to power when he suspended the Weimar Republic Constitution. The Weimar Republic went on for years until January 1933. That year the Weimar Republic ended as the 12-year experiment with democracy failed and the Nazi Party came to power.
