jan 1, 1974 - The Kansas City Experiment

Description:

The first large-scale scientific study of law enforcement practices. Sponsored by the Police Foundation, it focused on the practice of preventative patrol. The results showed that records of "preventable crimes" showed no differences in rate of occurrence among the 3 experimental beats, and citizens did not notice the change in patrol patterns. This experiment helped to change and improve patrol techniques that are still used today.
