jan 1, 1977 - Bill 101 passed in Quebec [1977]
Description:
The Parti Quebecois party won the provincial election in 1976. The party refused to participate in bilingualism and introduced Bill 101. This bill announced that French was the province's official language and that there were changes to be made. This led French to be the only spoken language in practically everything, all immigrant children were enrolled in french schools, and outdoor commercial signs displayed French in font double the size of English.
