- Setting up a League of Nations
- Disarmament
- Self-determination for the people of Europe - the right to rule themselves
- Freedom for colonies
- Freedom of the seas
- Free trade
People felt that Germany should be held responsible for the events that they have caused, essentially causing the events of the First World War.
Neither Clemenceau nor Lloyd George agreed with the fourteen points. Both nations controlled large empires, as well as wanting a harsher treaty with Germany.
