Pirates of the Caribbean
curse strikes again as crew
member rushed to hospital
with chest pains
Description:
The set of the latest Pirates Of The Caribbean blockbuster has again been plagued by bad luck after a crew member was rushed to hospital on Monday.
A source at the Gold Coast location told Daily Mail Australia the person involved had been suffering from chest pain before emergency services arrived on the scene.
They were rushed to a nearby hospital and are expected to make a full recovery, the source said.
However this is just the latest in a string of unfortunate events which have taken place at the Gold Coast set.
The first speed hump came in mid-February when it was revealed one of the stars of the film, Jack the monkey, had to spend 30 days in quarantine before he could enter Australia.
Joined by another monkey that serves as his understudy, the two had to spend their quarantine time at a specially constructed facility on the Gold Coast set.
The pair are Capuchin monkeys, and therefore are classified as pests by Australia's Department Of Agriculture.
The acting animals play the pet of Captain Hector Barbossa, played by Australian star Geoffrey Rush in the Disney film saga.
Then in early March, shortly after filming had commenced, leading man Johnny Depp injured his right wrist and flew back to the US for surgery.
Filming was suspended for a number of weeks when Depp reportedly snapped his wrist while go-karting on a private track at five-time MotoGP world champion Mick Doohan’s luxurious Coomera property on March 10.
The 51-year-old actor required surgery and decided to return to the United States for medical attention, a Disney spokesperson confirmed to Daily Mail Australia at the time.
He spent a few weeks overseas before touching back Down Under.
In May came the infamous 'war on terrier', which saw an enormous saga surrounding Johnny Depp's dogs unfold.
A federal investigation was launched to determine whether he should be prosecuted for not declaring Yorkshire terriers Pistol and Boo when he arrived in Australia on a private jet in April.
Depp was threatened with a hefty ten years behind bars or a $340,000 fine for failing to declare the pair when he arrived earlier in the year.
Australian Minister for Agriculture, Barnaby Joyce, also threatened to have the two dogs put down for evading quarantine after arriving in the couple's private jet.
'We bent over backwards to get their monkeys in – it was only just recently they had to get monkeys in [for their set] and we had to try and do everything in our power [to get them in],' Mr Joyce told The Project at the time.
'So they know what the deal is, and that's why we're a bit miffed by them,' he said.
It was also reported at the time the cost of transporting his beloved pooches back to The States on a private jet could have topped $350,000.
Later in May Johnny and his new wife Amber Heard were understood to have gone back home briefly to visit the pooches.
