feb 7, 1947 - Taft Hartley Act enacted

Description:

Mnay strikes were performed during 1946 and 1947. Congress passed the Taft Hartley Act overed the presdient's veto. The act stated that labor unions could no longer strike if they could prove that they were not communists. It also had many other restrictions as where if it came to hurt the health and safety of the country, then the president could call an 80-day cooling. This became very important since in part because strikes could be stopped which would be used by Truman in at least 12 occassions.
