Description:

The Berlin Wall was erected on August 13th, 1961 and split East Berlin (controlled by the Soviets/Russia) and West Berlin (controlled by the Allies). In the book, A Night Divided, Gerta, her mom, and her brother Fritz get stuck on the East side of the Wall. Her other brother and her dad get stuck on the West side of the Wall while they were planning to move.
