sep 11, 2001 - 9/11 Terrorist Attacks
Description:
9/11- In the Early morning of September 11th, 2001, the terrorist group Al Qaeda an (Islamist Extremist group) committed acts of terrorism against the United States in 4 different planned out attacks by the group. Targets were the twin towers, the pentagon, and a Pennsylvanian field (most likely headed for the white house). These attacks were committed through airliner planes that crashed into all of these locations. These attacks were done because of American military involvement in the Middle east. The effects of this attack were devastating to say the least, thousands of American lives were claimed in these attacks and many more innocent people killed during the war on terror. This event triggered a war against terrorism led by the USA and their allies who invaded Afghanistan to weave out the Taliban. Osama Bin Laden who was behind 9/11 was killed in 2011, nearly ten years after the initial attacks began and led the U.S. to a slow withdrawal from the country. The U.S fully left Afghanistan in 2021 under Joe Biden which led to the Taliban seizing tens of billions of dollars worth of U.S weapons and asserting full control over the country.
