jan 1, 1636 - The Book of Conos within Scotland

Description:

The Book of Canons introduced in 1636 was a book of church laws that Charles forced on the Church of Scotland . These laws and rules were built up upon on the hated ‘Five Articles of Perth’ this had a big black lash as there was no mention of presbyteries (Scotland main religion) sessions or general assemblies. The book set out excommunication (the highest discipline of the church) as punishment for any who said that the king didn’t have complete power in church matters, that prelacy was unbiblical, or who made church rules without the Charles permission.
