jul 1, 1646 - The Newcastle Propositions
Description:
in July of 1646 at the end of the 1st civil war parliament wanted to quickly land on and settle with Charles as it was fresh in his mind that parliament had better him than the Newcastle proposition which landed on 4 elements
religion/military / parliament/royalist
religion: Charles had to accept the establishment of Presbyterianism in England for 3 year
militaries: Charles had to agree to give all armed forced power to parliament for 20 years or until he was not on the crown
parliament: parliament could now force the triennial act upon Charles by guaranteeing regular parliament as a limit on the power of the monarchy
royalism: regarding royalties parliament 58 was not persecuted so the lose of the 1st civil war was to be remembered.
charles disagree to all of this as he decline the rule of the proposition
this was a good choose for Charles to make at this time as although he did lose a lot of loyalty within this time losing power would have been another huge loss for Charles and he had already lost a lot so for keeping the parilment on hard term was a good idea to have
