apr 22, 1990 - First multi-party election for parliment

Description:

The first multi-party election was between the Croatian democratic union (HDZ), the League of Communists of Croatia(SKH), and the coalition of peoples accord (KNS). The HDZ won 205 seats, the SKH won 73 seats, and the KNS won 11 seats. The HDZ defeated the SKH for seats and ended 45 years of communist rule in Croatia. After the election, the parliament amend the constitution, removed the word socialist from Croatia's name, and removed communist symbols from the flag and coat of arms.
