Bulgaria and Romania were sort of the last to join the EU out of the Eastern European countries. Joining the EU has helped Romania with ties to Western Europe and a stronger economy. Joining the Eu has helped Bulgaria with its economy though they are still working on things. The EU promotes peace between nations and not war and conflict.
