Description:
Robert Hooke created a compound microscope that had two lenses, known as the objective and ocular lenses. They had a maximum magnification of about x1,500, Hooke looked at a cork tissue (tree bark) through the lenses, and called the 'bits' he could see cells because they looked like the small cells of honeycomb, therefore, the word cell was coined.Added to timeline:
