The 19th Amendment granted women the right to vote. This victory for women took decades of agitation and protests. Woman suffrage supporters lectured, wrote, marched, lobbied, and practiced civil disobedience to achieve their goal. By 1916 the major suffrage organizations were united behind the goal of a constitutional amendment. President Wilson supported an amendment in 1918.
