Woodrow Wilson asked the United States Congress for a declaration of war against Germany after attempting to keep America isolated for the first bloody years of the war.

This event has lead to a stance that America upholds to this day: Wilsonian Idealism. It has lead to countless moments of intervention from the US across the sea, and many failures which tarnish the United States' reputation on the world stage.
