The ottoman empire was founded in 1299 and expanded quickly. Their leader held all the power and their social ranking was in the form of a hierarchy. They lost and gained important territory throughout the 18th century. They traded through the silk road and were the first to use gunpowder. The ottoman empire was very diverse and allowed lower class citizens including women and slaves to climb ranks through the social class. They lasted all the way until world war 1.Added to timeline:
